About Abi

I'm a learning designer working at the intersection of learning, communication, behaviour and organisational performance. I turn complex problems into clear, engaging learning systems that help people know what matters, practise what counts and perform differently afterwards.
Who I am
Big picture thinking.
Fine-detail care.
My background spans academia, adult education, communication and learning design. It’s taught me to move comfortably between big picture and fine detail: defining the problem, understanding the people and working out what needs to change – then getting into the storyboard, scenario, script or screen that makes it work.
I care about what happens beyond completion: whether the learning feels clear, relevant and intuitive, whether the practice reflects the real work, and whether every detail supports the experience rather than getting in the way.
How I work
I use ADDIE as a flexible, iterative framework rather than a rigid five-step production line. Feedback and refinement can happen throughout the process.
Understand the problem, the people and what needs to change.
Shape the learning strategy, experience and measures of success.
Build, test and refine the content, interactions and supporting resources.
Launch the learning where and how people actually need to use it.
Find out what worked, what changed and what should happen next.
Three things I bring to every project
I see beyond the content to the performance problem underneath it. I work out what people need to do differently, then shape the learning, practice and supports that can help them get there.
I bring a strong eye for structure, story, interaction and visual detail. Good learning should feel clear and considered – right down to the moments most people overlook.
I understand what new tools can make possible – and when not to use them. From AI-powered practice to custom interactions and simulations, I use technology where it genuinely deepens the experience rather than simply making it look innovative.
Surfing, skiing, travelling, cooking, pets, books – and anything that gets me curious about how people live, learn and make sense of our world.
